Welcome to 3rd Grade

Distance Learning continues through April third or until further notice.

We'd like to make things easier for you and your child. We are using an online format for Distance Learning called Seesaw. This format allows children to see their teacher providing video lessons as well as other activities. Mrs. Hedgecock's Seesaw will have Field Trip Friday and First Chapter Friday activities just for fun! Students will not be given new skills at this time, but some students may need extra support to recall lessons previously taught. Seesaw is not required, but strongly encouraged for teacher student interaction.  Choose ONE learning path for your child: Printed packet to be picked up at school OR Seesaw format. If your child wants to do both, that is great! Seesaw may be used on ANY device-- phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, Kindle. Follow the directions under the heading "Distance Learning" below.

I'm sure that as we wander into unfamiliar territory that you will have some questions. PLEASE FEEL FREE to email me at karen.hedgecock@srisd.org . If you have a new email address, please email me so I can include you in messages to parents.  We also have a Sam Rayburn Third Grade Only Facebook group. We'd love to add you!

Virtual Hours for conferencing through email with prompt reply will be Monday through Friday 7 to 8 a.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. I will be interacting with students on Seesaw and answering emails throughout the day. I "check in with email" a couple times each day on the weekend. Our next Zoom conferencing will be on Thursday, April 9th from 6 to 7 p.m. To learn how to zoom, click on the link below.

If you have not picked up your child's packet and have not begun working in Seesaw, please pick up the packet as soon as possible. Third grade teachers must receive completed work either by Seesaw or packet in order to enter grades for each child. Progress reports will go out soon. Students will receive a Pass or a Fail based on completion of work.

Completed packets should be turned in for grading when picking up new packets.
